The Planning Committee’s
main role is to determine applications for planning permission
within the Borough. Not all applications come before the Planning
Committee and decisions on many small applications are delegated to
Officers. The Committee has powers in relation to listed building
and conservation area consent and the making of tree preservation
orders. It also has enforcement powers to take action against
unauthorised developments.
Meetings of the Planning
Committee are normally held every 6-8 weeks. The agenda is
available to view on the website 5 working days prior to the
Committee meeting.
The meetings are open to the
public, and members of the public are allowed to speak. For further
details on the arrangements for public speaking at Planning
Committee
please download the current
guidance. Other Councillors are allowed to
address the Committee on any applications that are located in their
Ward in accordance with the scheme.
Important notice
Priority for public access to
the meeting room will be given to those who have registered to
speak on an application to be considered at this meeting. If there
are spaces remaining in the public gallery after the registered
speakers have been seated, then these seats will be offered to the
public on a first come, first served basis, however, capacity is
limited. As such we would strongly recommend that interested
members of the public watch the proceedings via the live stream.
Should there be more registered speakers than the capacity of the
room allows, you will be provided with an estimated time slot for
your application. Please wait outside of the venue until you are
called in to speak. Registered speakers may need to leave the venue
following their chance to speak to allow further speakers access to
the venue.
