The Communities Scrutiny Committee’s
role is to examine and monitor issues relating to communities,
safety and local services.
Its extensive remit covers key areas such as
customer experience, community groups and engagement, community
hubs and libraries, heritage services, crime prevention and
community safety, domestic abuse and anti?social behaviour, fire
and rescue and emergency response, public protection and
enforcement, road safety, registration and coroner’s
services, welfare and benefits, sports, leisure and cultural
facilities, equality and diversity, interfaith, as well as housing
including affordable homes, HMOs, homelessness and housing
needs.
It also acts as the designated scrutiny body
for the Safer, Stronger Communities Partnership under Section 19 of
the Police and Justice Act.
