RESOLVED – that the minutes of the meeting 26 April 2022 be confirmed and signed by the Chair.

The Director: Policy & Governance presented the report.

This was a standard report, presented annually at the first meeting of the municipal year. There was one amendment to the standard terms of reference to provide for the election of a vice chair should the committee wish to.

RESOLVED – that the Committee approve the terms of reference for the year 2022 – 2023.

The Director: Policy & Governance presented the draft work programme, explaining each item in turn providing a brief summary of the item and its background.

Items included a standing item on climate change work in the borough, an item focussing on Food and the Environment, and further items on the Council’s contracts and their environmental provisions, partnership work, transport strategies, and river sewage.

Following the presentation, Members made a number of comments on proposals. Specifically noted was the value that could be added in terms of a review the roll out of dual-use bins. Members were also encouraged by the inclusion of a ‘Food and the Environment’ item given the rural status of the county at large and the importance of the food industry in the borough. It was also requested that there be information about cycle and footpath maintenance as part of any update on the active travel policy.

RESOLVED – that the draft work programme be approved by the Committee.

Members were advised that the next meeting of the Committee was scheduled for 22 November 2022.
